Ricia, once an accountant, having articled and studied in accounting firms all across the country, and after numerous other occupations and career choices, became her own boss and started an import/export business in 1990.
Stephen, her husband, contracted himself as a shipwright carpenter specializing in repairs on wooden vessels. He joined Ricia in her import business while he also did his carpentry work.

Stephen and Ricia live in the town of Coombs, British Columbia, which has a population of about 800 people. Rather than relocating to the city, they chose to find something they could do from home, so that they could continue enjoying their country life. After 10 years of blood, sweat and tears as a self-employed entrepreneur, a defective product sent Ricia into small business bankruptcy.

As Ricia was going through this financial hardship she was introduced to a health and wellness networking marketing company, by her lawyer as a matter of fact. She was educated about the MLM business through a video called Brilliant Compensation and soon saw this industry as a way of playing catch up real quick and rebuilding her nest egg.

After a 7 thousand dollar investment, she jumped on board and worked it diligently as a business for 7 months. Her return on investment during those several months was approximately $700.

In January 2000, a good friend of theirs, perished in a plane crash. Ricia had seen Dean off that morning from their winter home in Guayabitos, Mexico. So, upon coming back after several weeks in the sun, rather than being in high vacation spirit, Ricia and Steve returned home in mourning.

Deep depression set in upon the loss of their friend. Finally as a way to kick the depression, Ricia began plugging into a group from her Network Marketing company who were doing Super Saturday trainings in a city 2 hours south from her.

Not quitting and not giving up, she went thru her contacts from this city to tell them about her "business". And, it's at this point she came across the business card of a gal she knew some three/four years ago. Ricia mentioned that she has a way of making money and would her friend be interested in seeing it?

This gal had said in return that she too had a way of making money, how about, you show me, I show you! Magically enough, Jane had manifested Ricia's call as some two weeks prior, she had pulled out Ricia's business card and posted it on the corkboard in her office.

Ricia immediately saw the power in this new opportunity, but nevertheless, queried her friend for 6 hours. And, after sleeping on it, she went back to Jane's house and queried her for another 3 hours. That afternoon, Ricia went down to the waterfront and wondered, "I just started this other business, invested $7,000, called all my friends, and now I'm about to call them on another deal".

She looked up for guidance, and from above she heard, "DO IT!". She then went to a phone booth, called Stephen who was finalizing a contract at a tug boat office in Vancouver, and said, "I'm starting a new business and I'm taking the mortgage money."

So long and short, Ricia came in at the top level, invested next month's mortgage money and was determined to make her new business work. In two weeks she had met the qualifications of two promotions. She started meetings in her local area, and soon a team was born. One little town after another on the island in which she lives saw more and more meetings open up.

In 7 months she achieved her 3rd promotion, and 3 months before her 12 month anniversary, Stephen joined her in the business and helped the couple get to their 4th pin level just 3 days after their one year start date. They were amongst the fastest in the company’s history to achieve this level.

Also in their first year, they won an all expenses paid trip to Cancun Mexico along with 4 reps from their young business. In their 2nd year, they won an all expenses paid trip to Puerta Vallarta. Also, they were awarded with the Executive Award of Excellence for Outstanding Performance. The other award they achieved was 5th Highest Income Earner in Western Canada.

After being in the business for 2 and a half years, they were named on the Top Performers Council – placed in the top 5 Money Earners in All of Canada. This also awarded them a position on the company’s Canadian Advisory Board. In 2002 they won the Canadian Team Spirit Award. The company flew them to Germany, Ireland, Mexico, Dallas, Florida, and even an all expenses paid trip in a private jet to the Caribbean. In 2003 and 2004, they were named once again on the Top Performers Council maintaining a very prestigious status with the company.

When their company changed direction, Ricia and Steve partnered with a Health and Wellness Company and in just four months, they jumped to the 2nd highest position in this company’s compensation plan.

In her seven successful years of network marketing, Ricia has been honored with many speaking engagements, involving audiences with as many as 7,000 people. She receives frequent compliments from distributors and leaders alike, on her easy-to-consume style of training, and formidable industry knowledge.
